When Jess helps, chores take twice as long. Patience should be labeled as a superpower. Besides, wanting to get jobs done in a timely fashion (I mean, I don’t want to make a career out of it…wait, I’ve done that), I like them done a certain way. Like Mr. Incredible, I prefer to work alone.
This morning I was able to slow my pace down because there were no time constraints. Jess had all the time she needed to complete her jobs. Only when I was watching a Big Bang Theory did my need for order bother me. In this episode, Howard didn’t shut the door behind him when he was talking to Leonard. I had a need to reach into the TV and shut that door! All I can say is, poor Jess to have me for a mother…sigh…
Jess stripped the beds, sorted lights from darks and filled the dishwasher. House chores are the bane of a housewife’s existence, however, Jess views them differently. Maybe these chores are novel to her, or maybe it’s her Angelmans, but she performs her work with joy. Honestly, I don’t recall the last time I had a smile on my face while doing the laundry, but then again, I have been at this for years.
Next, we had to go to the barn. I needed to take care of George. Jess had to sit this one out, watch me work and be a rail bird.
This morning we saw that the windows to the indoor ring were finally opened. A sure sign that summer’s around the corner. Some of the horses had just come in from being in the pasture over night and others had just been turned out. Horses are like little boys. Instead of stomping in puddles, they enjoy rolling where it’s muddy.
This afternoon, we made the beds and finished the laundry.
By the end of the night, we were pretty tuckered out. Jess got herself ready for bed. Based on what she produced in the bathroom, I’d venture to guess that her constipation made her act out at work. This may be the cause of her outburst, but she has to learn to communicate better. She has the ability, it is just going to take time. This kind of time I have all the patience in the world for.
So, if you ask me how my day went, I’d say it went pretty well.
